Synopsis
Sandouk Al-Hakaya was established in Damascus in 2014, and comprises two workshops: the Folk Tale Workshop and the Design and Hand Printing Workshop. The Folk Tale Workshop focuses on collecting and documenting folk tales from various regions of Syria, using them to provide interactive and artistic activities for children, and producing knowledge about the types of folk tales and their local characteristics. Meanwhile, the Design and Hand Printing Workshop works on creating new and contemporary visual designs and printing them using traditional manual techniques such as stamps and silk screening. The activities of Sandouk Al-Hakaya center around exploring intangible heritage from oral traditions and traditional printing, and reviving it by training a team of young artists to use it in creating products that resonate with the modern era
